Phew! It's been a busy few days to say the least. We went up to Staffordshire at the weekend to visit my mister's family. We had a lovely trip to Monkey Forest at The Trentham Estate on Saturday and it was a glorious afternoon for February. The girls had a great time looking at the monkeys and generally letting off steam in the fresh air.
It costs £7.50 for a grown up and £5.50 for over threes. I didn't see an option to purchase a family ticket. It's a nice afternoon out although walking around the whole forest only took about an hour so we felt it would perhaps be better for children to go free until older than three. The monkeys are completely free to roam and they do come up close to you which the girls found very exciting. At certain times you can see the Monkeys being fed. There is a little park, a cafe and a shop too. With three young girls, Monkey's and monkey related merchandise were purchased, as you can imagine!
There's a shopping village and huge garden centre which are well worth a visit with a fantastic selection of lovely shops selling everything from Yankee candles to Steiff bears. Some of our favourites were One More Bear who stock a wonderful selection of bears including Steiff & Jellycat, The Candle Shop for Yankee candles & Wood Wick candles, Noah's Ark Factory for build a bear, bear factory and bear clothing and Brown and Green a vibrant food store brimming with wonderful local, artisan and ethical produce.
Finally there's also Trentham Gardens which we've not yet visited (separate tickets are required).
In the evening the big boys and girls went or dinner and to see Dave Spikey in Stafford while Nanny looked after the girls.
We didn't arrive home until late on Sunday evening and Monday was spent catching up on all the mundane things that must be done. Monday evening we went into London to see St Vincent at Shepherds Bush Empire and by the time we got home I wasn't good for anything except my bed.
And suddenly it's Wednesday afternoon already, just like that x
